Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the challenging style of drumming that, as much as the bagpipes themselves, gives a pipe band its extraordinary sound. Participants will learn fundamental skills and concepts from a Scottish drumming perspective. These will include stick handling and control, rudiments, music reading and practice techniques and habits. More experienced players will undertake advanced rudiment work and interpretation of specific musical scores.
NEW THIS YEAR !! ... an introductory workshop for those ready to tackle the Great Highland Bagpipe. Participants will fingering, simple gracenotes and basic bagpipe music reading.

Instructors
Special guest instructor Malcolm Rosenberger,of Pine River,
Minnesota, is widely acknowledged as one of the top Scottish
snare drummers in North America. As a solo competitor, he
turned professional at the age of 16 and won the western U.S.
open championship five years in a row, retiring the trophy.
More recently, Rosenberger has focused on competitive pipe
band drumming. In more than 200 band contests, the corps
he has led have a win rate of more than 95 per cent. He is
well known not only for his technical mastery, but also for the
innovativeness of his original scores. Many of Rosenberger’s
hundreds of students have gone on to success as solo
competitors or to lead their own pipe band drum corps.
Beginner snare drumming will be taught by Nancy Clower,
Turlach Ur’s Drum Sergeant. Beginner bagpiping sessions
will be taught byRob Clower, the Pipe Major of Turlach Ur.

Tuition
Advanced Sessions: For students with substantial Scottish snare
experience or extensive other snare experience. Tuition for the six hour
clinic is $85.00
Intermediate Sessions: For students with some Scottish snare
experience or substantial other snare experience. Tuition for the three hour
clinic is $55.00
Beginner Sessions: For beginner snare drummers AND bagpipers.
Tuition for either two-hour mini-clinic is $35.00
All sessions are limited to 10 participants. For beginners, practice
instruments will be available for purchase or they may be borrowed
for use during the workshops.
